Pablo
Gomez is a Charger fan and part of the extended Bolt Pride family.
On January 4, 2006, Pablo was involved in a police altercation after
watching the Rose Bowl with friends in the Gaslamp Quarter downtown.
His story was reported by Joe Hughes in the San Diego Union-Tribune
on January 13, 2006.
Pablo
is 26-years young. Unfortunately, he was knocked unconscious and
suffered a severe brain injury. He was kept in a chemically induced
coma for three weeks, and he required three brain operations to
remove blood clots and damaged tissue, with at least one more surgery
pending. He also received a tracheotomy to assist his breathing.
This is a very tragic situation for Pablo and the Gomez family.
Aside from being athletic and enjoying fishing, Pablo worked as
a legal aide at a downtown attorney's office, and he is a parish
member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Pablo is a good kid who
never had any trouble with the law. He is now facing a very difficult
rehabilitation simply to regain basic life functions, but he will
never regain the health that he once enjoyed. His lifes dreams
are gone, and his parents are financially challenged to care for
their son.
A
raffle of Charger items signed by Charger players will be held to
support Pablo and his family. Raffle tickets are only $5. The
raffle will take place in the Bolt Pride tailgate party at 11
